My first experience in politics was when I was 17 years old.  I started out delivering yard signs for a congressional campaign, but after proving my abilities, I  began drafting press releases and coordinating media events. It was then that I learned about the concept of “political spin”.

For those who may be new to the political arena, ”spin,” according to Wikipedia, is:

a form of propaganda, achieved through providing an interpretation of an event or campaign to persuade public opinion in favor or against a…public figure. While traditional public relations may also rely on creative presentation of the facts, “spin” often, though not always, implies disingenuous, deceptive and/or highly manipulative tactics.

Now, it appears that politicians (especially the President, Pelosi, and White House Press Secretary Gibbs) have moved across that very fine line between ”spin” to just outright lies.  Take for example Nancy Pelosi’s recent quote on the “transparency” in the health care debate.   The Hill reported:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended Congress’ work on a healthcare bill Tuesday saying the process has displayed historic transparency, just as C-SPAN mounts an effort to open the negotiations. C-SPAN wrote a letter to congressional leaders Tuesday asking that TV cameras be allowed to film negotiations to reconcile the House and Senate versions of healthcare reform legislation. But Pelosi said Congress has already been transparent throughout the process.
“There has never been a more open process for any legislation,” Pelosi said at a press conference.

Say what?!? Is she serious? Nancy Pelosi’s lie is so egregious, that by making such a statement with a straight face, she clearly thinks we’re all idiots.  The fact of the matter is that despite the President’s campaign promise (which he made at least on 8 separate occasions), the meetings were not in fact held on C-SPAN.  To the contrary, we now know that there were likely more late night shady back-room deals were made on this health care bill than on any other bill.  The ”Conhusker Kickback”, the “Louisiana Purchase” and the Union Tax Exemption are just the tip of the iceberg on this monstrosity of a bill. If you think this is transparency, I’ve got some ocean-front property in Arizona…

Another great example is the President’s recent comment on Senator-Elect Scott Brown’s historic election:

“Here’s my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country: The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office. People are angry, and they’re frustrated. Not just because of what’s happened in the last year or two years, but what’s happened over the last eight years.”

Ahem….say what?!?

What sent him into office was a bunch of wary punch-drunk people looking for a true change from the “politics of the past” and by that, I mean backroom deals, out-of-control spending, and a refusal to listen to the people who put them into office.  What sent Scott Brown to office was people who are wide-awake and want to send you a message: NO YOU CAN’T!
     …No you can’t implode our country’s economy by reckless spending.
     …No you can’t dismantle one of the best health care systems in the world just because of a few flaws.
     …No you can’t ignore the people who put you, Pelosi and Reid into office.
     …No you can’t give terrorists constitutional rights.

That, in my opinion, is what sent Scott Brown to office.  To liken the Massachusetts election to Obama’s election is nothing but a lie because the President is far too educated to be that naive.

Finally, the latest spin lie coming from the Left is that Scott Brown’s election was due to Martha Coakley’s inability to run an effective campaign.  (I’m rolling my eyes as I type this) Come on!  Who do they think is buying this crap?  It certainly isn’t the American people.  I mean, the lady was leading by 30 points before Christmas.Where were their criticisms or concerns back in December?(Cue crickets chiping)  Let’s see what really happened:
     …The Christmas Eve Senate vote on Health Care bill
     …The Nation discovers Sen. Ben’s Nelson’s 60th vote “Cornhusker Kickback”
     …The Christmas Underwear Bomber (and the White House acknowledging that it “goofed”)
     …The White House ensures that the Christmas Underwear Bomber will be tried in civilian court
     …The Labor Unions given special tax treatment in exchange for their support of the Health Care bill

Hmmmm… Pretty sure that poor Martha’s campaign had nothing to do with the Dems loss of that seat.  Throwing that poor lady under the bus just to allow the Democrats to spin lie about the reasons for Brown’s election is disgraceful.

If the “truth will set you free”  then where will Left’s lies take us? I’m afraid it will lead to a country that will be known as “the former land of the free” unless Americans educate themselves, use common sense, and fight back (peacefully, of course) .  We must let those in the halls of the Capitol and in the White House know that we demand the truth!
