Yes, He IS That Radical

From the beginning of the 2008 election cycle, people kept telling me to quit being an alarmist and that Obama is not that radical.  Sure, he was buddies with unapologetic terrorist Bill Ayres…but, I was informed “that was a long time ago” or “he just hosted a fundraiser for him, it’s not like they were best friends or anything”.  Then came Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor of 20 years.  The man who said such patriotic things as:

The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people,”

Obama’s response as you will recall, in a campaign appearance, was:

”I don’t think my church is actually particularly controversial.” [Rev. Wright] “is like an old uncle who says things I don’t always agree with,”

But nevermind that, right?

On Election Night 2008, all of the pundits said that Obama would be like Clinton.  He would govern from the center…that they would in no way make the same mistakes Clinton did in his first term, which led to the Republican Revolution in 1994. Just for good measure, they threw in the fact that despite the election, America was still a “center right” nation.  Despite the assurances from all of my favorite pundits, I knew that there was no way in hell that these guys would be right.

Just based on the list of Obama’s radical acquaintances that were exposed, I knew that with control of the House and Senate, Obama, who is an ideologue, would be governing from the way FAR left.  It didn’t take long to learn that Obama ended up hiring: (thanks to Mac Fuller at Exposing Liberal Lies for the list)

Van Jones: ‘Green Jobs Czar,’ self-defined Communist.

Ron Bloom: ‘Manufacturing Czar’ cites Chairman Mao as a political guide.

Anita Dunn: White House Communications Director, who stated in an address to high school students this past June that Chairman Mao Tse-tung was one of the two ‘philosophers’ she most often turns to.

Carol Browner: Director, White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, an ardent Socialist activist and one of 14 leaders of Socialist International’s, ‘Commission for a Sustainable World Society,’ which calls for ‘global governance.’

Cass Sunstein: Administrator of the White House Office of Administration and Regulatory Affairs , ‘who openly argues for bringing socialism to the United States, and even lends support for communism….’

Granted, some of these people have mysteriously left these positions, but without people like Glenn Beck, they would have remained Obama’s closest advisors.  Despite the presence of radicals in the White House, the pundits continued to hold fast to their prediction: Obama would govern from the center.

I, on the other hand, figured that by the time the 2010 election rolled around,  Obama, Pelosi and Reid would have crammed through amnesty for illegal aliens (yes, I did just call them that…); a health care overhaul and Cap and Trade.

Sure enough, on June 26, 2009 the House passed the Cap and Trade Bill.  By November 7, 2009, the House had passed the Health Care Bill.  On December 15, 2009, Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL) introduced the Immigration Bill.  On Christmas Eve, the Senate passed their version of the Health Care Bill.   My worst fears were coming true…and we hadn’t even made it through 2009!

Then came the Massachusetts Miracle…Scott Brown.  As it turns out, one of the bluest states in the nation, actually elected a Republican to none other than Ted Kennedy’s seat. The Dems had finally lost their carte blanche (well, almost…Chicago-style intimidation tactics and sneaky procedural rules are still available). Surely, the pundits opined, Obama, Pelosi and Reid had finally learned their lesson and would put the brakes on their radical agenda.  I, once again, disagreed.

I believe that Obama, Reid and Pelosi are political ideologues. They don’t care about compromise, they don’t care what the electorate wants (after all, we are a bunch of bumbling, uneducated truck-drivin’ rednecks, right?) They know best.  So, they are not only not going to put the brakes on…they’re going to put their foot on the gas. Sure enough, first came Pelosi on January 18, 2010 in San Francisco:

“Let’s remove all doubt, we will have health care — one way or another.”

and again on January 19, 2010 after a meeting with the House Democratic leadership:

“Regardless of Massachusetts, it will happen,”

“Our eye is on the ball to pass legislation,” Pelosi said. “In order to do that we have to resolve the differences (between the two bills). We will have quality, affordable health care for all Americans and it will be soon.”

Then came Obama, in a “town hall” in Elyria, Ohio yesterday, who said:

“I know folks in Washington are in a little bit of a frenzy this week, trying to figure out what the election in Massachusetts the other day means for health insurance reform, for Republicans and Democrats, and for me. This is what they love to do.

But this isn’t about me. It’s about you. I didn’t take up this issue to boost my poll numbers or score political points — believe me, if I were, I would have picked something a lot easier than this. No, I’m trying to solve the problems that folks here in Elyria and across this country face every day. And I am not going to walk away just because it’s hard. We’re going to keep on working to get this done with Democrats, Republicans — anyone who is willing to step up.

Because I am not going to watch more people get crushed by costs, or denied the care they need by insurance company bureaucrats, or partisan politics, or special interest power in Washington.”

Finally, today, according to a FoxNews.Com article, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid reportedly are considering a new list of changes to the Senate health care reform bill that could be passed separately as a way to advance the suddenly stalled overhaul of the health care system.

What can I say? Do you believe me now?  I am not an alaramist…and yes, He IS (and they are) that radical.

Ultimately, the radical threesome isn’t going to let go of their death-grip on our country until Americans make it abundantly clear to all of their elected officials up for re-election this year, that if they pass any part of the radical agenda, they will be out of a job, period.  Our only hope right now rests in the hands of the moderate Democrats on the Hill (and that’s pretty damn scary).  If they can finally decide to stop being the whipping boys and girls, join together and take a stand against the of the Radical Three and their comrades, the socialist agenda could be stopped.  Whether that day will come, I can only hope and pray.
